Dalmatian Exercise
At 13 weeks, Alfie managed up to an hour and a quarter walk each day either split into two walks or one gentle paced big one. We started to incorporate some off lead running in the fields, but mostly, we walked down through the village, onto and along the seafront and back again, mainly on grass or sand (soft on the joints), changing routes now and then to keep him on his toes...At 7 Months, we built up to an hour and a half, sometimes an hour and 45 minutes each day, and we expanded his routes to include woodland walks, off lead play and training in fields and general countryside walks. His favorite two walks are:-
- Down, through the village to the seafront, off lead along the beach and back, along the country lanes, through two fields and home.
- Up the hill along the bridal path by the golf course, through the woods into the large dog park to play with his friends, along the country lanes, through two fields and home.
We're expecting him to need at least 2 hours exercise a day when he's around 9-12 months old so we're building up our fitness levels with his !
He also needs about 3 short play sessions a day and enjoys 15 minutes of training.
The rest of the time, he follows us around from room to room, plays by himself, gives us lots of cuddles and if we are in one room for any length of time, he will fall asleep at our feet or with his head in our lap.
